What is a Workspace?

A workspace in Motion is the top-level environment where all your work lives. Think of it as the container that holds your projects, tasks, schedules, and team settings. Workspaces let you separate different parts of your life or business — for example, you might have one workspace for your company, another for a client project, and a private workspace for personal tasks.

Each workspace comes with its own projects, members, and settings, giving you clarity and control. By organizing your work into distinct workspaces, you can reduce clutter, avoid overlap, and ensure the right people have access to the right information.

How to Create a Workspace

Creating a workspace in Motion is simple and gives you a dedicated space to organize projects, tasks, and team collaboration.

  1. In the left-hand sidebar, scroll to the Workspaces section.

  2. Click the ➕ Add workspace button.

  3. Enter a name for your new workspace.

  4. (Optional) Invite team members to join your workspace immediately or skip this step to add them later.

  5. Your new workspace will now appear in the Workspaces list, ready for you to add projects, tasks, and settings.

💡Pro Tip: Use different workspaces to separate client projects, departments, or personal vs. work tasks.

Access workspace settings

How to Access Workspace Settings

Each workspace in Motion comes with its own settings for customization and management. Here’s how to find them:

  1. In the left-hand sidebar, scroll to the Workspaces section.

  2. Hover over the workspace you want to manage.

  3. Click the three-dot menu (…) next to the workspace name or click on the gear icon to go directly there.

  4. Select Settings.

Inside workspace settings, you can:

  • Update the workspace name and description.

  • Manage members and permissions.

  • Adjust notifications and integrations specific to that workspace.

💡 Pro tip: Workspace settings are separate from your Account settings (for your personal profile) and Team settings (for cross-workspace management).
